Routine Services

Routine services include issue and return of books, reference services, inter-library loan, reprint request service, photocopy of articles on request by post if asked for.
 
Current Awareness Services (CAS)

CAS includes listing of newly added books, display of newly acquired journals, intimating scientists and research fellows individually regarding documents procured by the library pertaining to their specific field of interest, display of content list of latest journals.
 
Selective Dissemination of Information

SDI service includes literature search as and when demanded by our scientists and research fellows. Information is provided by searching the internet. Library has MEDLINE database. SDI service is provided by searching the data bases on demand. Routing of periodicals is also one of the SDI service provided by RMRIMS Library.
 
Resource Sharing in ICMR Libraries

All ICMR librarians have formulated an ICMR Librarians group mail (icmrlibrarians@yahoogroups.com) for resource sharing. Any article available in any ICMR library can be obtained and delivered to scientists through this group mail service.
 
HELLIS Network of WHO

The HELLIS (Health Literature, Library and Information Services) Network, now functional in 9 member States namely – Bangladesh, DPR Korea, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka & Thailand, is an effective mechanism for health literature/information support to the health team and researchers in the region. At present there are over 315 participating libraries in the HELLIS Network. Bhutan and Maldives have also started taking interest in the foundation of HELLIS Network in their respective country. The health science researchers and allied health clientele of member countries are provided on request through HELLIS national focal point (i.e. National Medical Library, New Delhi for India) free of charge photocopies of those references which are not available in the country from where the request originates.
 
Reprographic Services

Reprographic services are provided in the form of photocopying of articles, instructions to authors etc. on request free of cost for ICMR scientists and searchers. For non ICMR users Rs. 0.75 paisa per page has to be deposited against photocopy charge.
 
Off Line Data base search

Library uses MEDLINE CD ROM database from the period 1966 till date. This facility is extended to all library users as off line MEDLARS (Medical Literature Analysis & Retrieval System) service.
 
 
Internet & E-mail Services

Internet facility is available to all ICMR scientists for searching various on line data base like www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov, www.indmed.nic.in and also for full text article available in the net through www.freemedicaljournals.com for free full text journals.
 
News Clippings

RMRIMS Library does news clipping works on Kala-azar and AIDS appearing from time to time in local daily news paper.
 
Data Base Available

Dialogue MEDLINE CD-ROM Data Base is available from 1996  till date. This facility is extended to all library users as MEDLARS (Medical Literature Analysis & Retrieval System) service.
 
Preparation of Publication List

RMRIMS Library maintains scientific publication of the Institute’s Scientist & updates regularly for web page and also for sending it to Council for Scientometric analysis.
