Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences located in rural setting within 10 min. walking distance from Gandhi Ashram, is the first Rural Medical Institute in India established in 1969 as Gandhi centenary project under dynamic leadership, of late Dr. Sushila Nayar, Founder Director, M.G.I.M.S. Presently under the leadership of Shri Dhirubhai Mehta President, Kasturba Health Society, M.G.I.M.S. is standing high in Indian Medical scenario imparting rural oriented medical education and living up to its own history and heritage. The MGIMS is accredited "A" grade by NAAC The MGIMS is affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik. The MGIMS admits 100 medical students from all over India on the basis of a pre-medical entrance test. The Institute also offers post-graduation in all major clinical and basic sciences disciplines. The Kasturba Hospital is a 780-bed hospital, located in Sewagram, about 8 kms from Wardha town. The hospital offers tertiary care healthcare facilities to rural patients.
